Introduction:

Welcome to the 2008 International Car of the Year Awards (ICOTY). At the 12th Annual International Car of the Year Awards on January 12, 2008, the ICOTY jury presented the top 10 winning vehicles for the 2008 model year. The exciting black-tie gala, coined the Academy of Cars by industry leaders, was moved to a new venue — the brand new, state-of-the-art MGM Grand Detroit. There, vehicles were honored in 10 different categories based on the emotional connection between car and consumer, and just how well automakers created that connection. The winners were selected by the ICOTY's Awards Board, a group of nationally renowned automotive journalists, whose expertise are highly respected by automakers throughout the industry. J.D. Power and Associates tabulated the jury ballots, adding credibility and validation to the significance of these prestigious awards. Winners were announced by RTM on January 13, 2008.
