Mercury
Originally conceived to bridge the gap between the working man’s Ford and the wealthy man’s Lincoln, Mercury arrived in 1939 and thrived with models that were usually nothing more than glammed-up Fords. A few exclusives were marketed as Mercurys over the years, but by the Aughts it was clear that satin chrome trim was not enough to distinguish the Grand Marquis, Mariner, Milan, and Mountaineer from the Fords and Lincolns with which they shared parts.
