VEHIX PROMOTES MIKE VAN THIEL TO CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER
Vehix announces the promotion of Mike van Thiel and Scott Wood, as part of ongoing investments and growth in its technology area
Salt Lake City – May 9, 2007 – Vehix, a leading automotive portal, announced today the promotion of Mike van Thiel to CTO, where he will lead software development, product management, quality assurance and network operations. Scott Wood was also promoted from senior developer to director of software development.
“Mike has been a key part of our success, and we are excited that he will helm our technology operations as we grow and continue creating robust content that helps consumers with their car shopping experiences,” said Derek Mattsson, Vehix CEO. “Also, with the ever expanding set of site functionality, the time is right for Scott to take on more responsibility as director of software development.”
Van Thiel and Wood contributed to Vehix.com becoming one of the most trafficked automotive resource websites on the Internet. Previously, as vice president of product development, van Thiel was responsible for the direction and successful implementation of all technical product development. This included the consumer portal www.Vehix.com and all other applications. Plus, the team contributed to the successful introduction of Vehix TV™ and new interactive video auto buying guides featuring content from J.D. Power & Associates. Wood, who joined Vehix in 2005, will supervise the development team and manage priority projects.
Van Thiel has more than 15 years of technology and management experience in a variety of industries including automotive, healthcare and mortgage and title markets. Before joining Vehix.com, van Thiel was director of development at Xi Corporation where he successfully built a political intelligence system that supported many candidates in the 2004 election cycle. Prior to that he led a multi-million dollar revenue department responsible for developing and deploying large scale claims management systems at Ingenix, Inc., a subsidiary of United Health Group. Van Thiel performed his undergraduate work in the Netherlands. He also holds a master’s degree in computer science and an MBA from the University of Utah.
Wood began his career in Web technologies in 1998 and has served as a Web developer in the multi-level marketing, fulfillment and contract management industries. He holds extensive professional computer certifications.
