The Ford F-150 is the best-selling truck in America. Now, according to Motor Trend, it’s also the best truck in America as the F-150 wraps up the title of 2012 Motor Trend Truck of the Year.
This victory marks the fourth Truck of the Year honor for the F-150, winning in 1997, 2004, 2009 and again in 2012.
Are we surprised by the victory? Not particularly, since the entire Vehix editorial team has been impressed by the latest F-150.

Motor Trend evaluated four new truck candidates based on their criteria. You could argue that the field favored Ford since Nissan’s new NV cargo van was also in the mix (a decent vehicle but not a comparable “truck” in many people’s minds). You can watch a video explanation of the players and methodology below for more detail.
Ultimately, after evaluating all the vehicles and the entire range of the Ford F-150′s engine flavors, consensus revealed that the F-150 was the best of the bunch. And so it wins Motor Trend Truck of the Year Honors. Motor Trend writes: “It’s the combination of advancement in design, engineering excellence, efficiency, safety, value, and the performance of intended function that has earned the Ford F-150 the title of Motor Trend’s Truck of the Year.”

not ever supriseds that the bessst selling truck in the world and best selling vehicle in world won honors! and best selling truck 34 straight years is so cool. eat your heart out chevy boys you will always be no. 2 and u other dodge toyota nissan or what ever u just play follow the leader. the your king and master will always leave u in the dust!!!!! thank u thank u very much!!
Being 2012 Motor Trend truck of the year (1 year in a row) does not make it the best selling truck! And its only the best selling truck because the idiots that keep buying them are replacing the broken down one they bought a few years earlier!! GM and Chevys are still running strong…hence lower sales figures!
come on COMPARE apples to apples, not apples,to watermelons to cherrys. you didnt even have a GM in the test are you afraid of the GM truck. the van thing realy? i think test is one sided
I agree 100% with Gramps! That van shouldn’t have even been in the “TRUCK” comparison. Where is the GM Truck? The dodge has so many models to choose from, and you guys pick the biggest and most expensive one, and have the nerve to complain about the extras?!! Get all the same engines first of all! (V-8′s) The same weight classes! Like the F-150, the Chevy 1500, and the Dodge 1500!!! This test is so biased, it’s not even funny!
Why would they put a GM truck in there-so it can lose again? Oh yeah they are scared of a GM when a few years ago the CEO of General Motors said “Yes we have let our quality slip the past few years.” The Van thing could beat the old tired 5.3 Chevy anyways. Thats why Ford is number 1. Four spanking brand new engines gramps. Now put your teeth back in and get behind the steering wheel of a Ecoboost F150.
Government Motors….and Now Italian/Union owned Chrysler and it being the largest theft of the American companies…
Good for you FORD….
I’ve got your back for the rest of my life.
Good luck and Congratulations.
I drove the Ford F150 ecoboost, the GMC Sierra, and the Dodge Ram 1500. I don’t favor any brand like many people. All three trucks are very nice. I purchased the Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie. I believe the Laramie is much more luxurious and better looking than the other two trucks. The 390 hp Hemi motor is incredible and with 4 cylinder mode I get better gas mileage than the ecoboost. I also got a year end $10K off of the sticker price with dealer incentives making it by far the best value of the three trucks.
Good for you. We’re always glad to hear when people find the right vehicle for their needs.
