Black Friday and Cyber Monday came and went with huge fanfare and massive spending as shoppers spent record cash on everything from iPads and TVs to cars. Check these numbers: $11.4 billion on Black Friday and $1.3 billion on Cyber Monday. That’s a lot of green, folks, and car dealers got in on the action as well with November registering the best monthly sales since February 2011, which was before the Japanese earthquake and tsunami dramatically impacted auto inventories and sales.
In other words, it was a very good month for car sales.
The list of the 10 best-selling cars in November 2011 only sees minor changes from last month. The most conspicuous is the Honda Accord dropping of the list. Considering that it was the third best-selling car in October and had been in the top 10 for the past three months, that drop has to be concerning for Honda dealers. Fortunately for Honda, the Civic jumps into the mix in November with 17,133 sales and 200,690 Civic sales year to date. The recent award of the 2012 Honda Civic Natural Gas as Green Car of the Year may help continue to fuel Civic sales.
For truck drivers, the Ford F-150, Chevy Silverado and Ram 1500 remain the volume leaders. No surprises there. Sales of the F-150 are up 24 percent, while sales of the Silverado are up 34 percent compared to last November. Impressive.
The Toyota Corolla jumps into the top 10 with sales of 16,115 vehicles, slightly less than November 2010′s total of 16,202.
Rebates and incentives helped move the metal and we’ve included links to available December rebates and incentives for America’s top-selling vehicles. As always, incentives can change quickly and often and it makes good sense to look at the 2011 and 2012 offers for any vehicle you’re considering. At this late point in 2011, you may find the best deal on a 2011 model–if you can find one. Otherwise, you’ll likely find more 2012 models on the lots.
Good luck shopping.

I thought the bailout of GM resulted in their being number one now. Maybe they’re number one in making cars but not selling them now. Who knows?
