Scenic Drive – Colorado’s 14,000-Foot Mount Evans

America is home to some amazing landscapes. The kinds of places where even the most stunning car can get lost in the breathtaking scenery. Here are a few:

California’s Pacific Coast Highway: Drop the top on your convertible and, as the Fifth Dimension sang, “Let the sunshine in.”
Maui’s Hana Highway: Another place seemingly custom-made for convertibles, the “Road to Hana” boasts hairpin curves, single-lane bridges, waterfalls, wildflowers and everything else that makes Maui a vacationer’s paradise.
Utah’s Highway 12: How about a mix of red rock and alpine forests, all in one road? Highway 12 includes Bryce Canyon, the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, the Boulder Mountain and Dixie National Forests and ends near Capitol Reef. It’s a red rock lovers getaway.

I’ve just scratched the surface here and over the coming months, we’ll regularly cover some of America’s most scenic highways in our series of Great Drives.

Let me add another drive to the list: Colorado’s Mount Evans Road, which is the highest paved road in North America and takes you all the way to 14,130 feet above sea level. Located a mere 60 miles away from Denver, Colorado, it’s a spectacular drive that only takes a morning or afternoon to complete and is worth every moment.
