It’s a new year yet the old standards remain as the 10 best-selling vehicles in America. But there is an interesting development as the Honda Accord sold fewer than half as many units as its longtime rival, the Toyota Camry.
The Accord sold 13,659 units in January while the Camry sold 28,295 vehicles. That means the Accord once again

The Range Rover Evoque turns heads. Lots of them as you glide down the road in this smallest-ever Land Rover. Now the Evoque will turn even more heads since this small crossover was named 2012 North American Truck of the Year at the North American International Auto Show held in Detroit, Michigan.

One of the big surprises to emerge from the 2012 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) is that the Hyundai Elantra nabbed North American Car of the Year honors.
The fact that the Elantra won isn’t so surprising. We’ve been big fans of the Elantra since we first drove the redesigned model in late 2010.

What surprised
Volkswagen vehicles continue to sell at a brisk clip. December sales were the company’s best since 1972, with 32,502 vehicles leaving showrooms. Although 1972 was a few years before Herbie Rides Again hit theaters and kids became enamored by Herbie the Love Bug, it appears there is a whole new group of buyers who can’t get enough of Vee-Dubs.

Crossovers are everywhere you look. In fact, there are at least 60 vehicles for the 2012 model year that are considered crossovers. Some people call these car-based, SUV-looking vehicles small SUVs. But many crossovers are actually quite large. Take the Ford Flex or Buick Enclave, for instance, that boast three rows of seats and can easily tow a small boat.
The Ford F-150 is the best-selling truck in America. Now, according to Motor Trend, it’s also the best truck in America as the F-150 wraps up the title of 2012 Motor Trend Truck of the Year.
This victory marks the fourth Truck of the Year honor for the F-150, winning in 1997, 2004, 2009 and again in 2012.
Are we surprised
While the news that the 2012 Volkswagen Passat was named Motor Trend Car of the Year was announced last week, it still deserves a little more attention. Here’s why: the Passat is a really solid vehicle and buyers should look closely at this family sedan with mucho legroom for rear-seat passengers.
