We live in a country with hundreds of automotive choices available to consumers. With so many vehicles resembling one another in form and function, it is always refreshing to cast my eyes on a Jeep Wrangler. Unlike anything on the road, built as tough as nails and capable of going nearly everywhere on terra firma, the rough-and-tumble Jeep Wrangler is an American legend.
Over the years the ubiquitous Jeep Wrangler has gone through some dramatic changes including a recent conversion to coil springs over leaf and adding a 4-door model, the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. Given the recent addition of 2 doors, the Jeep Wrangler has a brand new demographic – families.
A newly introduced option gives the Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Wrangler Unlimited the comfort and security of a hard top named, the Freedom Top™. This is a modular three-piece hardtop that includes a rear washer with wiper and rear defroster. The two or four full metal doors make up this vehicle (as opposed to the half doors available in the soft top) and tinted glass.
The only engine available (in the United States) is a 202 horsepower (237 lbs feet of torque) 3.8 liter Sequential Multi-Port Injection V6 engine. Although not exactly a power-house, this V6 engine provides good torque for off road excursions and a fair amount of power for commuting.
