5 Great Used 2009 Cars

With so many brands going out of business and many automakers refreshing their fleets, this is a great time to pounce on a 2009 deal. Many consumers were not able to make the most of the “Cash for Clunkers” program and hoped for something newer (and cheaper) to replace their aging vehicle. Some of the incentives for vehicles on this list are outstanding. Incentives change often so check the manufacturer site and with your local dealer to ensure you’re securing the best deal.

In some cases, these used vehicles still have their transferable warranty, an extended warranty or can be purchased with a Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) warranty. Obviously, make sure you do your homework and research any used vehicle you are considering.

Some of these vehicles are about to be replaced or phased out. With this in mind, dealerships are becoming increasingly despondent seeing so many models clogging their lots. This may be a good time to haggle. Don’t forget to follow some of Vehix’s recommendations for purchasing used vehicles.

All prices listed are based on Kelly Blue Book estimates for 2009 models with less than 13,000 miles in base form. Prices represent Kelly Blue Book’s Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) and can significantly change from private party and trade-in prices.

A word of warning: although many vehicles from discontinued name-brands (like Pontiac and Saturn) are still covered and serviced by their former parent automaker, their resale value may have dropped significantly. And long term, parts for these vehicles may become more expensive. But that’s a long ways off, and for buyers who are looking for good bargains and can overlook the potentially low resale value, here’s a batch of good, nearly new, used cars.

2009 Nissan Titan

The 2009 Nissan Titan (view photos) is a beefy, full-size pickup truck that (despite its years) is still competitive with vehicles from Ford and GM. Nissan builds a tough, handsome pickup that has a surprising amount of interior space. Available in King Cab and Crew Cab configurations. King Cabs (with small, reverse-opening rear doors) feature either a six-foot, six-inch or eight-foot bed. Crew Cabs (with full size, forward-opening rear doors) come standard with either a five-foot, six-inch or seven-foot beds. All Titans come standard with the muscular 317 horsepower, 385 pounds-feet of torque 5.6-liter V8 which is matched up with a five-speed automatic transmission. The Titan can tow up to 9,500 pounds (when properly equipped). A flex-fuel variant is also available. Prices start at about $22,000.
