For the 328i there is a smooth 230 horsepower 3.0-liter, inline 6-cylinder engine that averages 24 mpg. Available with a sweet shifting 6-speed manual or a “6-speed STEPTRONIC automatic transmission provides a choice of three modes: "Drive", which incorporates BMW's Adaptive Transmission Control; "Sport" automatic, for a more dynamic shift pattern; and STEPTRONIC automatic, for the hands-on control of a manual without using a clutch.” – BMW. With a 22 second opening time and closing in 23 seconds – there is little wait for the wind and sunshine to peer in on your driving enjoyment.

1. Pontiac G6

The Pontiac G6 is a sleek, modern convertible that currently leads convertible sales in the United States. Only a few years after its introduction, the strong selling Pontiac G6 has a retractable hard-top that still allows for a bit of trunk space. More of a sporty boulevard cruiser than a track scorcher, the Pontiac G6 is easy to pilot and rewarding on the highway. The Pontiac G6’s main competition is the Chrysler Sebring Convertible, Volkswagen Eos Convertible, Mitsubishi Eclipse Convertible and Ford Mustang Convertible. It takes about 30 seconds to fold this hard-top convertible roof. The sole choice for the Pontiac G6 convertible is a 222 horsepower (238 lbs feet of torque) 3.5 liter V6.The Pontiac G6 is available only in front wheel drive and with a 4-speed automatic with manual shift mode. Weighing in at 3855 lbs, the Pontiac returns respectable fuel economy at 17 mpg city and 26 mpg highway.
