Chrysler LLC's Dodge is a feisty brand. Despite the jabs and cuts delivered from a finicky press, they keep fighting. With bailout money healing their quality wounds and the promise of new partner FIAT's international brawn, Dodge is still swinging. There are a few glitches (low quality interior materials chief among them), although they are being addressed. Indeed, many new and revitalized 2010 Dodge models are looking good.
These four models represent some of the good and very good models Dodge has to offer.

Last year, Dodge introduced its brand new Ram 1500. This was not a mere re-skinning attempt. The 1500 came with one of the best interiors in its bracket and a host of technical upgrades. One of the most appealing additions is the coil spring rear suspension which provides stunning ride quality. The 5.7 liter HEMI and unique in-bed storage system add to the 1500’s appeal. Now, the Ram 2500 and 3500 line has been revealed. The 2500 and 3500 have either a 383 horsepower 404 lbs feet of torque, 5.7 liter HEMI V8 or the 350 horsepower 650 lbs feet of torque 6.7 liter Cummins Turbo Diesel. Visually, they look like even beefier versions of the 1500 with towing, hauling and performance numbers that meet or beat every competitor.

Take a close look at the Dodge Charger and think about what it competes against (Accord, Camry, Taurus and Malibu). For family hauler duties in its price bracket, can anyone think of a more aggressive-looking machine? The Dodge Charger has a stout structure with its bones sourced from an older Mercedes Benz E Class. It looks poised for speed, even in its V6 base model form. There is a lot to like in the Charger beyond its appearance. Performance is mild in the V6, but step up to the 5.7 or monster 6.1 liter HEMI V8 and enjoy internal combustion bliss. Handling is good, although the big V8s are a bit nose heavy. There is plenty of legroom and a massive trunk. The design is a bit old, but (in the flashy trims) it still turns heads.

It should be called a F.M.D for Family Mobile Device. The originators of the American minivan, Dodge/Chrysler LLC have always been innovators with their wee little van designs (although they are no longer that little). Now, with a new box-like shape and a powerful 3.8 liter V6, the new Dodge Caravan is an empty canvas for invention. The smaller V6 engines are not as thrifty as they should be and it would be nice if they offered more power to support a vehicle that weighs between 4321 and 4483 lbs. However, the 6-speed automatic transmission available only with the larger engine works wonderfully and makes for a better overall performer (with the beefy 3.8 liter V6). New seating options include a fold-flat third-row seat and either stow-and-go or swivel-and-go seating (with a removable table).

Wow, what a looker. Based on a shortened Chrysler 300/Dodge Charger platform, the wonderfully retro-looking Challenger packs quite a bit of weight and speed. For commuting and around-town comfort, the Challenger beats its competitors, especially in its ferocious SRT8 trim. Unfortunately, on the track and curvy roads, it is outclassed by the Mustang and Camaro. Still, neither competing product can touch the Challenger's interior's size and comfort. There is enough room for three in the back and the rear seats fold 60/40 revealing a huge trunk. Few cars generate the sighs of adoration this vehicle inspires.
