There are several goodies and storage options available inside the cab. With the Quad Cab you have under-seat compartment storage in the rear. Also, a hidden in-floor cargo door (directly behind the driver’s seat – it holds about a 6-pack of cans with ice and is plastic lined with a drain plug). An overhead console with a universal garage door opener is a handy touch.

Some other available options include a rear power sliding window, multi-function power folding mirrors and extremely comfortable leather seats with heating AND cooling! The 506-watt Alpine Surround with 9 Speakers and Sub-woofer (under part of the passenger’s rear seat) is fantastic. Steering-wheel mounted audio controls are available as well.

2009 Dodge Ram 2500 Mega CabThe Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 are industrial strength, larger, heavier and have options for a massive 6.7 liter Cummings turbo diesel with 350 horsepower which puts out 650 lbs feet of torque. The choice of a 6-speed automatic or manual transmission is also available. This combination increases the 2500’s towing capacity to 13,600 pounds and increases the payload capacity 3,350 pounds (when properly equipped).

The Ram 3500’s towing capacity can be up to an outstanding 17,000 pounds and payload capacity is up to a maximum of 5,130 pounds (when properly equipped). A beam axle with a beefy leaf spring setup (Hotchkiss rear suspension) replaces the rear coils on the 1500 for maximum capacity and toughness on both the 2500 and 3500 models.  Rams come with a front coil-over shock double wishbone independent front suspension for a smoother, more controllable ride.

What makes the 1500’s loading options more utilitarian is the industry exclusive waterproof, drainable, “RamBox™ Cargo Management System.” Essentially, storage compartments are built into the bed rails. They are large enough to hold golf bags, tools or up to 120 cans of soda with ice. They are lined with plastic and have drain holes. There is still enough room for a proper piece of 4-feet wide plywood between the bed rails. Add to those nifty sliding tie-down cleats, top rail covers, removable tailgate with caliper latches and a multi-position bed divider that doubles as a bed extender.
