A Jewel from Germany
There is something mystical, almost other worldly when experiencing a serious BMW. You may be asking, “a serious BMW?” Ah, that’s a vehicle that sits low to the ground, is balanced, fast and is utterly rewarding. I mean, all BMWs are well built and drive well, though a few stand head and shoulders above the others.
Bear with me here; I am talking about something special in modern automobiles-I am talking about a car with soul. Cliché, I know, but consider this: how many automobiles out there consistently rank in the top ten in a majority of the world’s top periodicals? Why is it that the 3 series BMW is the benchmark that nearly every automaker looks up to?
Drive something as rewarding as the BMW 335i xDrive Coupe and you will understand.
The 335i Coupe cuts the difference between the BMW 3 Series sedan and smaller Z4. This is a useful size that allows for a small backseat and useful trunk space. Despite a long front end, the overall coupe package is remarkably small. At 180.3 inches, the BMW 335i xDrive Coupe has nearly an economy car length, although the 108.7 inch wheelbase is a good deal longer than its cousin the Z4 (whose wheelbase is still long at 98.3 inches).
Recently, the BMW 3 series has gone through a series of minor changes. Everything from the (somewhat un-loved) iDrive multimedia system (navigation, entertainment automotive settings etc), interior trim and exterior styling has been revised. Most notable to the passerby is the tightened exterior.
There are a few varied opinions about the appearance of the BMW 3 Series and whether or not the looks are a fair representation of the performance. The soft curves meeting hard creases can take some getting used to as this vehicle is rather unique. I am pleased to see BMW tightening up the lower section of the door and keeping the kick panel lines consistent with the rest of the design.
